CoachesPhilly Point Guard Camp boasts one of the best coaching staffs in the region. Our coaches are exceptionally qualified to coach young boys and girls athletes ages 11-14. Not only do most of our staff members coach high school or college basketball, they also are teachers at the grade school to middle school levels. The coaches have been involved in youth basketball at many different levels with a high degree of success. We know that your young athlete will benefit mightily from our coaches' vast experience.

DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL OPERATIONS
Clyde Jones
Clyde Jones just completed his first season as head boys basketball coach at Penn Wood High School, guiding the Patriots to a berth in District One Class AAA playoffs.. Coach Jones was previously the head boys coach at Harriton High School where was named suburban and area coach of the year five times, won one District One Class 3A title, led the Rams to six straight District One berths, four straight trips to the PIAA playoffs and two Del Val American League championships. In six seasons at Harriton, Coach Jones won 125 games. Coach Jones has been a middle school teacher since 1991 and is currently teaching sixth grade at Welsh Valley Middle School
COACHES
Rap Curry
Rap Curry is a 1990 graduate of Penn Wood High School, who averaged a triple-double for his high school career. After being named Big School Player of the Year in Pennsylvania in 1990, Coach Curry accepted a full scholarship to play basketball at Saint Joseph's University. Despite a severe knee injury during his sophomore season, Curry went on to set the school record for career assists (since broken by Jameer Nelson) with 580, score 1,372 points, grab 521 rebounds and pick off 195 steals. He also set the school record for most assists in a game with 14, a record that still stands. Coach Curry was elected to the Saint Joseph's University Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999 and was the boys head basketball coach at Penn Wood High School from 2003-2006. He now serves his alma mater as the William Penn School District's Director of Athletics.
Ty Taylor
Ty Taylor has been the women's head basketball at Harcum College for the last two years after serving as an assistant men's coach at Haverford College. Under Coach Taylor, the Lady Bears just completed a 23-2 season. A graduate of the College Misericordia with a BA in business administration and marketing, Coach Taylor is currently the multi-cultural recruiter for Haverford College's athletic department.
